We run statewide and regional courses related to nutrient management on a variety of topics. The schedules for each course are outlined below.

Annual Advanced Nutrient Management Planning Course -
Covers a different topic every year.

Topics typically include implementing nutrient management planning, fertilizer and manure management, regulatory updates and other topics. See our 2014 agenda for more information.
Course Agenda (2014 Course)
Course Dates: Typically in February.
Cost: Early registration: $200; late registration: $230. Includes one lunch.

- Typically approved for 12.0 CEU's for MDNR CAFO Operators and 6.0 CEU's for MDNR Wastewater Operators.
- Typically approved for CEU’s for Certified Crop Advisors.
Computer-Assisted Nutrient Management Planning Course
NO MORE COURSES ARE CURRENTLY SCHEDULED
A one-day (8:30 AM to 3:30 PM) refresher course. Topics covered include:
- Using WebSNMP to draw fields and setbacks and make required maps;
- An overview of Purdue’s Manure Management Planner;
- Using our document generators to create fertilizer and manure plans;
- Introduction to MMPTracker for updating an existing plan for new information.

Course cost: $75 (Includes lunch and refreshments)
We have applied for 6.0 continuing education credits (CEUs) for Certified Crop Advisors (5.0 hours Nutrient Management and 1.0 hours Soil and Water).
We have applied for 6.0 CAFO Operator and 6.0 Wastewater Treatment CEU’s.

PE Short Course – Design and Construction of Livestock Manure Systems to Meet MDNR Regulations
No course scheduled in Winter/Spring 2014
This short course is designed to incorporate the new Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) regulations developed by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) which became effective April 30, 2012. This short course builds on the technical foundation of course taught in the early and mid-1990s by Agricultural Engineering Extension at University of Missouri entitled “Design and Construction of Livestock Waste Disposal Systems to Meet DNR Regulations”.

Cost: $295
Cost includes use of computer during training and two lunches.
This course offers up to 21 PDH credits that can potentially be earned by registered professional engineers. Of the 21 PDH credits, 17 PDH credits are taught by registered professional engineers.

The Basic Nutrient Management Planning Course
No course scheduled in Winter/Spring 2014
Two three-day sessions covering the basic concepts of nutrient management on a farm using manure as a fertilizer source. Course cost: $400 including three lunches.
- The classroom session covers a diverse range of topics in soil fertility, water quality, animal science, agricultural economics and agricultural engineering related to nutrient management (see past course agenda below).
- Course participants then attend one of two field and calculation sessions. The field and calculation sessions focus on how to make calculations and decisions needed to write a nutrient management plan and discussion of topics raised in the classroom course. The second session includes a visit to the MU Dairy.
This course is recommended by Missouri NRCS for TSP's writing CNMP's.
- We will apply for 29.0 Wastewater Operator CEU's and 35.5 CAFO Operator CEU's.
- For Certified Crop Advisors we will apply for 6.0 Soil and Water CEU's and 23.5 Nutrient Management CEU's.
